When I play Doom 3 on my PC,after I quit and go back to desktop everything is real bright. Like my brightness is cranked all the way up on my monitor. Doom 3 is the only game that does this. I do not have another monitor to test this out to see if it goes bright on a different one. But my monitor is on its last leg with brightness, it is cranked all the way up to a 100 and it is just about perfect. It has been like this for a while. I need a new one. But for some reason after Doom 3 everything is super bright and I reboot the everything is Ok.

Just wondering if you guys think it is my graphics card doing this or my monitor?

I am running a
Athlon 64 3000 CPU
Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR MoBo
512 MB 3200 ram
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro

Nothing overclocked

no, i have had the same problem in quake 3 on some computers that im lanning. It only happens if i end the game improperly (aka task manager). If i restart the game and exit it normally everything is fine. I think is has to do with directx settings in the game.

i have that problem only if the game crashed or got shut down improperly

other than that. no i don't get the problem when i shut down normal...i just reboot if it happens...

Same..if i shut down correctly, no problems..if i dont the screen is all whacked.

yup sure does. i think the game adjusts contrast and brightness automatically and when its improperly shut down it keeps it that way. try ending the process if its in the task manager still.

Cool thanks I will check that out next time I run it. But I am shutting it down correctly. Maybe it is still running in the task manager. I was wondering if I had a monitor problem or a video card problem, and its probably just a software problem. LOL

that sometimes happens to me, but its gamma so i just change it slightly and hit apply and its fixed

i have the same problem in far cry.. but i don't really care about it that much.. o yeha and i am runninig a viewsonic a90f+ and the system is in my rig
