Does the stress test mean anything?

Hey guys

I am very new to overclocking. I have been doing it little by little on my CPU and my computer seems to be working fine.

I OC'ed my FX-55 clawhammer from 2.61-2.87. I had to up my voltage a little to not blue screen, but it seems to be working. However, prime 95 failed almost instantly.

How accurate is prime95 and should I judge my OC'ing by that program?

Thanks

If prime95 fails thats means your OC is not stable and could possibly cause blue screens and other bad things. People have different ways of saying "its good"...

But in my book you should be able to run an instance of prime 95 per core for at least 15-20 minutes nonstop without a problem. if it errors instantly, it wont be 100% stable, guaranteed.

Cool, thanks for the tip.

Lets say 13.5 multi is stable able 14x multi is not would upping the voltage or FSB make it stable?

Upping the voltage may make it stable. Upping the FSB will increase the processor's frequency even more and make it less stable.
