Im picking this up tommorow (if anything is open), well does it?

(Better choice for a temporary 3 month solution for low res solution for HL2 Deathmaych and CS:Source gaming?)

Thanks

Why the hell would you waste money on a 9600xt if you're only going to use it for 3 months? Pointless.

For what the 9600XT costs, you could get a better solution like a 9800Pro. They 9600XT's have always been overpriced for the kind of performance they offer.

$158 9800pro (true 9800pro, not the knock off)

At newegg, in the video card upgrade sticky at the top of the video card forum, go go go.

Cheapest 9800Pro is $249 here.

Cheapest 9600XT is $158...

I have some extra cash to send, and I am hoest to god sick of my MX440SE...

You can buy the 9800pro, send it to my house and I'll mail it up there. Just pay for shipping and you're good to go. It'll save you nearly $100 american and you'll get much better performance.

Or you could find someone you know in the US better than some random guy off the net to do it for you :p but I'd be willing to help out a fellow [H]er for nothin'.

Lmao point taken, you don't have a friend who lives in the US?

There is always paying someone who has feed back from buying and selling stuff in the fs/ft section (heat), so you know they are honest people.

Hey, where are you located in Canada? I am in Detroit and I have an ATI AIW 9600XT that I was thinking of selling. I just bought it about a month ago for $140 USD. Can meet at the bridge or tunnel if you are near?

heheh :p anyway, why get a 9600XT, try to find at least a 9800, or if your going to only have the card for 3 months, maybe a Ti4600? I know it doesn't support DX9, but its prolly on par with a 9700/9800 in Dx8 work.

I have $16 CDN to spend. 9800s are alot more here. I can't find a Ti4600, and I wanna make a little flame cooked meal I call "MX440SE Flaumbame"

Hahahah, well, in the rig in my sig, at highest settings @ 1024x768 in the CS:S stress test with no AA/AF i'm getting ~100FPS. So my guess is that you'll roughly get 20 less than me if you turn your settings down to medium. I also get 18555 in 3DMark01

What do you mean? Maybe with your settings a 9600XT will get 20 (maybe) less FPS>..

I mean that with a 9600XT you can expect to get approx. 70-80fps in the stress test.

well... im getting about 20fps with low settings right now... or I did when I only ad 256mb of SDram. Once I get a card that HAS Dx9 support, Ill try with it and 512mb of ram, see what I get...

(Havnt installed CS:Source again yet)

The 9600XT will wipe the floor with a GF4MX aka GF2.

I made the same upgrade and for HL2/CSS the 9600XT is perfect, it'll work great, I got 40+ FPS on medium at 12 x 10. On my old comp. 60 FPS on the stress test.

.........It was a joke, I'm a cynical bastard....

Ok. Tell the truth....You saw "Detroit" and immediately had bad thoughts....didn’t you? Come on be honest????

I hope not. Yeah, there are urban issues here just like any other big city but, there are people here that are as nice as any as I have met from around the country and the world.
And, I have bought and sold gear (Car audio) to other Canadians......And that is the main question that comes up...."Ya wanna meet at the bridge or the tunnel." ;)
