Hi, due to the configuration of my sysetm (watercooled SFF i7) Im looking for a half height or very short, graphics card that is capable of running 2 x 24" monitors @ 1920 x 1200. Gaming isnt overly important, so the main constraint is size.

Im currently running a 9600GT but concerned that the end of the card is putting too much pressure on the barbs of the radiator to be a long term solution.
 
Could we see a picture of your case/watercooling installed?


I'd move the radiator if I were you. Cooling placement shouldn't determine your hardware but that's just my belief.
 
I'll try and get a pic up but to be honest, there isnt much option to move the radiator.

Its essentially the same configuration but with a 9600GT rather than the old Radeon X1600. The fan mounts external to the case drawing air in from outside and blowing through the radiator and into the case.
 
Nice fit in that case. Would it be possible to flip the radiator the other way and have the barbs near the front of the case? You've probably already thought about that but hard to say much without seeing the top view down and the other side. Are you stacking other electronics on this case? Might be possble to mount that radiator above the mobo on the case top? Just some ideas throwing out there. Purpose of watercooling that htpc? Silence? I know zalman makes some pretty good air coolers with low noise.

Hmm, I dont think so but would have to try to be certain. I think it would be too much stretch on the cable to reach the barbs. The other option I could try is to have the barbs on the outside of the case but again, I dont think theres enough legnth of piping to allow this.

This is how it looks with the case on and fan mounted. Think im going to get a slimmer profile fan though as my temps are fine. Might get a little hotter but I can live with that.
 
Unfortunately neither of those cards have dual dvi. Im currently running 1x24" and want to add another. Otherwise my only option is to go to a 30" but Id prefer desktop area of 2x24". Unless that XFX can do HDMI and DVI simultaneously?
 
Look for a Quadro NVS 280/290/295. They're all low profile and have dual DVI or dual Display Port. The GTS250 will outperform them by a large margin though. The GTS250 should do what you need. It looks like sparkle also makes a 9600GT and 9800GT card, both configured similarly.

yea of course. HDMI is really just like DVI in disguise (with audio)

That Sparkle card I think is actually pretty cool. They squeezed a lot of power into a small space.
