Does light shine through bent acrylic?

I'm in the planning stages of a new project.

I need to know if light will come out of the bent area of a piece of acrylic when LEDs are mounted around the perimeter.

I'm looking to put a 5°-10° bend in a large piece of acrylic, and have LEDs mounted around the perimeter to have light shine out the edges. However, I don't want any light to come out the bend.
 
Sadly, yes.

Unless the bend is perfect (which, It won't be) you'll see a tiny bit of leakage.

Although, 5-10 degrees might not be enough to trigger it...
 
Could you use another material for the bends? Just a thought. Not sure exactly what you have in mind.
 
I wish I could. It's gotta be one solid piece of acrylic.

I "might" be able to get away with no bend. I'll have to take some measurements.

Can anyone find some pics of the light leakage at the bend?
