I have a spare 120 Go SATA HD that I would like to use as an external HD for my laptop. Can I get something somewhere that would allow me to do that? Thank you!

Indeed there is. You want an external enclosure.
There are plenty of enclosures around. You can get an external SATA enclosure if you have a free external sata port on your laptop (doubt it, maybe for a higher end model), firewire encloure if you have a firewire port (recommended as firewire has a faster sustained transfer rate) and regular USB enclosures

Ok. I was just not sure I could get a SATA to USB 2.0 (no SATA port on my laptop).
