I picked up a cheap Samsung 305t on CL so I figured it would be worth trying to hook it up to my notebook. I currently use a Dell l501x which only has hdmi 1.4 and minidisplay ports. My question is will the hdmi or minidisplay port support the native resolution without having to get this adapter:

I have searched a bit and have gotten mixed answers, hopefully some of you display experts can help me out!

No, it doesn't support that resolution. There isn't enough bandwidth. The highest resolution it'll do is 1920 x 1200.

Use the mini-display port. It'll work perfectly fine.

To be honest I don't know. It all depends on whether or not the port on your laptop is a powered DP port.

I think that it would be as long as it's the only video out port being used.

HDMI 1.3 can support 2560x1600 just fine. 1.4 supports up to 4096×2160 ( only at 24Hz though).
