does cpu block orientation matter?

I am reworking my loop with new fittings, fans and rads. I have an EK supremacy evo gold block. It is perfectly square, so my question is does the orientation matter as long as water is going in to the in hole and out....you know what I mean.
 
If you were to look under the IHS on an Intel chip, there would be a rectangle. That rectangle is where the heat is going to be concentrated, so....while you won't notice a HUGE difference by going with an "off" orientation, keeping the cooling channels of the block directly over the die itself is a good idea. Particularly if you're REALLY pushing your clocks hard. If you're just going to overclock a little bit to edge some more performance out of your CPU, orient it any way you want....the 1c or 2c difference isn't going to hurt you.
 
I'm pretty sure, that with that water block the only orientation issue is making sure that the fins in the cold plate align the right way with the jet inside the water block.
 
The looks are one thing, but there's also the direction water flow through the fins that could be effected like Koween said.

If I have water going into the right inlet it has to be flowing over the fins correctly does it not? I took the block out of the box and attached it to the socket, I havent messed with the fins.
 
just googled your block and it should not matter at all as long as you make sure that the in port is over the fins.

I wanted to turn my cpu block 90 degrees so I would not have to bend the tubes even more. Contacted EK about it and they said it's fine. So far so good, haven't noticed any issues :)
