I've noticed lots of folks on here with HIS X1800XTs. Is there any particular reason this card seems to be popular? I was scoping out newegg today and the HIS card is about $90 more than the ATI. Of course the ATI is OEM and the HIS is retail. Also the difference is only $40 after you factor in the mail-in rebate. However I'm still curious about any differences. NewEgg shows a bunch of these cards ranging from about $489 - $599 but they all show the same clock speeds and features, even some are identical brands, but different models, so what's the difference?
 
It doesn't really matters what brand you get. Just do some research on the net and read a couple of reviews of the card you fancy to find out if there is any issues with the specific card.
ATI has always been rather strikt about changing their cards so mostly they are made as the original ATI layout. Almost anything you could change on the cards was the cooling.

The reason HIS cards are popular is that they got a high quality and on their ICE-Q cards they use a very high performance cooling solution and those cards are usually good overclockers, cost a little more though.
