Does anyone use optimum online here?

Having an issue with a client who uses Optonline.


They can't send any e-mails, due to the fact that they can't connect to mail.optonline.net's SMTP port.

Do they use a non-standard port number? (ie NOT port 25?)

Is there some kind of authentication setting?


the Optonline support monkeys keep telling me "make sure its mail.optonline.net, make sure your ethernet cable is plugged in" scripted BS etc...
 
As far as I know the mail server mail.optonline.net works fine over port 25. What mail client are you using, and have you tried a different mail client with a fresh install?

tried outlook, outlook express, a raw telnet connection

oh well, the user is using the web interface so its no issue anymore.
 
Lawyers have clients.

I'd suggest calling Optimum Online tech support and have them run some tests back to your customers box.
