Sorry, the title should read "does anyone know what is going on here?"

Q6600

Corsair TX750

Asus P5Q Pro

HD 4870 512MB

2 x 2 GB Mushkin XP2

Win 7 X64 RC - build 7100

Western Digital 6400AAKS

No overclocks.

When I turn the computer off the next time I come to use it it will boot as normal, however, if it is turned on again within a few minutes of being shutdown all I get is the monitor on standby (the fans and lights are on inside the computer). When it does this, no matter how many times I restart it, it almost always refuses to turn on properly and I am left with the blank screen.

Most often the only way it will boot again is if I unplug it at the wall and leave it for about 20-30 mins, after which it will usually boot. Occasionally I can get it to turn on without waiting by simply flicking the power supply's on/off switch a few times.

Does anyone know wth is going on here?

Probably a PSU issue. Ask Corsair tech support for some help. Could also be a mobo issue.

This is what Corsair said:

This could be a problem with the motherboard or the PSU. The capacitor is not discharging correctly after powered down, and unplugging the power cord or switching the PSU off will discharge the capacitor correctly. When you encounter this problem again, do not unplug the power cord or switch off the PSU, but simply try the paperclip test on the 24pin connector. If the PSU powers on with the paperclip test without discharging by pulling the power cord or PSU switch, then the problem is on the motherboard.

The paperclip test is on the link below:

I'll report back when I've tried it.

Sounds like what happened to me a while back.

Better have the PSU looked at asap, coz mine blew up a couple of weeks later. Not explode, but sparks flew out the vent grills, so something definitely blew.
