Does anyone do independent thermal block testing anymore?

I keep seeing these water block reviews & tests without thermal testing, esp. for newer models(fusion, apogee gtx, (MC)TDX) i know some companies run their own tests, but that doesnt show a good comparison between the blocks. are they scared their block cant hold up? or do I just find the wrong reviews?

Specifically, I'm trying to cool a Q9300, waiting to add a GPU cooler til the 9900 and 4870 come out. aiming for high flow rate, but it would be nice to have some actual apples to apples tests of the blocks.

I guess since WC has become much more mainstream, all the technical data is outweighed by the vast amount of anecdotal evidence... The Dtek Fuzion has almost proven to be the top performer in every test I've seen... So, learning it's C/W and Thermal Resistance values probably isn't important... to some.

My 150w Load Resistor died a horrible death, so I had to stop testing this stuff.

Yep MartinM is quickly becoming the current authority on testing. Nikhsub still occasionally does some, but most of the others have more or less dropped off the map. MartinM does some really nice stuff and I am looking forward to seeing him getting more into the thermal testing. His flow testing has been really good. He should have some Fuzion thermal test results soon.

I seem to follow these helpful individuals till they disappear. BillA was hired by swifttech, cathar found the ultimate block and moved on, a few other people have disappeared as well. I am currently reading everything MartinM is writing, but am worried about his objectivity with 100% of his tests ending in a glowing review of the item...till something better comes along.

Someone doesn't invest that much of their time and money into all the scientific equipment he has been snapping up if they intend to be subjective. His methodology is very sound and I personally don't question his objectivity.

He really hasn't tested very much stuff, and he seems to pick and choose the stuff that he wants to test which is normally the already presumed top of the barrel so it is to be expected that his reviews would be good.

He gets his stuff from some companies sending him samples(XSPC sends him a lot) or by way or people loaning it to him.

i dont question BillA's objectivity either. but now that he is on swifttech's payroll, he conducts awesome tests for them, then cannot release findings unless they tell him to. and bill pretty much had the best test rig ive ever seen, plus a nice clear writing style. Cathar did some amazing tests too, and developed basically the best single-core waterblock there could be.

I'm definitely looking forward to MartinM's thermal tests, and hope he can keep all his findings public.
