I just bought an Antec P180B, and in anticipation of buying an 8800GTX i put my hard drives in the lower drive cage, which has the hard drives mounted vertically. Now I started having problems when doing anything hard drive intensive, loading a game, downloading something, what ever. So I removed the lower drive cage with the drives still in them and connected, and set the cage to where the hard drives are now horizontal, and I havent had a single hiccup since then.

Has any one else had this problem, and does any one else know how to fix this?
 
That's a bad sign about the state of your drives... They're supposed to work in ANY orientation...
 
Its just my raptor that does it, my other hard drive, thats actually older, does fine..

Are you saying my precious raptor is crapping out? :(
 
Orientation should have no effect. Problem is either the drive or the cables.

Check your cables and be sure something isn't getting partially disconnected in one orientation. Try a different cable.

Enable SMART in your Bios. Download SpeedFan to read the SMART data. Compare in both orientations. If any issues seen, back up your data and plan to get a new drive.
