WHOOPS: the mobo is a P35 DS3R, the IP35 Pro is in my other computer. lol...how embarassing..if a mod can change the title i'd appreciate it
Hi, i recently noticed, in Ubuntu, that my q9300 will only go up to 2.33ghz. yes, speedstep is enabled, but the highest clock according to powertop is 2.33
this proc has a 7.5 multi * 333fsb = 2.5ghz
its apparent to me what happening is the .5 is being ignored and im getting 7*333 = 2.33ghz
now, my BIOS was recent as of about a year ago (im at work so i cant check right now), and obviously supports 45nm procs. I can do the .5 "fine-tune" multiplier adjustment in the BIOS.
this would lead me to believe its an ubuntu/linux issue.
but just to sanity check....does being able to select 7.5 necessarilly mean this mobo handles it properly? can anyone confirm that the DS3R supports half-multis?
and no, OC'ing is not an option on this box =] (sit in a cabinet and runs extremely hot as is...and really just wanna keep things stock since its a server...but i do hate having my megahurtz stoeled)
