do you worry about it leaking in?

I mean, you spend all this money on GTX, C2D, etc, etc, do you worry about it ever comming loose and leaking? I wanted to go this route for my system, but I just couldn't do it, it seems that it was too difficult to accomplish so I just bought the Tuniq.

well, i spent alot of time. i was pretty paranoid at the beginning, but yeah...
 
Not a bit, I sleep like a baby knowing it's not going to leak.

also there are a couple different semi to non conductive fluids that you can use to limit the damage or decrease the possibility of your $600 GPU getting fried...
 
you see that is the scary part for me, I don't know anything about it, I didn't know there was a different conductive etc. I was there was a Dummy's guide to watercooling.
 
Lol. I have the most dangerous setup EVER.

A 120mm Reservoir (acrylic) positionned overtop of EVERYTHING. if it cracks. EVERYTHING is going up in smoke.

Next on my christmas list? some good PCice or something lol.
 
I've been wc'ing for about 3 years now. You should always be worried about your setup leaking. It makes you more careful when you put it together. I've had one leak since I started and that was my fault for not tightening my clamps enough. It leaked onto my video card and didn't fry anything. :D Got lucky I guess. There's always a risk of leakage, but that's part of being [H]ard.

WC'ing takes more work and has a higher risk factor but the rewards are worth it. Higher OC potential, nice and quiet, fun to assemble, and if done right looks very cool.
 
I use 3/8" fittings and 5/16" tubing, which means I have to boil all of my tubing to get it to slip over the barbs, and even then it is a bit tough. Once it cools, there is not a chance of leaks (unless a block or pump is just defective and leaks itself.) As long as you leak test you shouldn't have any problems. Its not very likely that a leak will take weeks or months to develop, if you have one you will notice immediately.
 
Worm drive clamps ensure no leaks for me.

If you're that insecure, use compression fittings.
 
Follow these steps and yea'll never fry anything
ever! Savey :D

1. Size up and cut your hoses, tighten all hose clamps to your wb's.
(use worm gear hose clamps!) tip: be careful putting hoses on, never use twisting excessive force, fittings can back off their seats and cause a leak. always walk the hoses onto the fittings.

2. Fill the system outside the case with distilled water only at this point, check for leaks, then bleed all the air out. run for 2 hours, check leaks again,

3. Install wc in the case, insure no power is connected to anything.
put some small cotton towels at the ready inside the case for emergency use.

4. hotwire psu, (only the waterpump should be connected to psu) check for leaks closely for the first 2-3 hours, then let it run for 24 hours. if she's gonna leak you'll notice it within the first 24 hours. if yea have no leaks then add 10% of your favorite coolent and your good ta go.

P.S 90% of leaks are caused by being impatient and the other 10% is not properly leak testing. :(
So take your time and you'll greatly reduce the risk and enjoy your watercooling experience. ;)
 
I've been doing this water cooling thing for years and have yet to have a leak on a running system or kill a computer component............ :D Take your time installing and check on them every now and then and you'll be just fine.............. :eek:
 
I've had two leaks, from not tightening my hose clamps. No hardware destroyed. Stupid oversights. Take your time, leak test everything before you run the system, and you'll be just fine.
 
On my loop the CPU block intake fitting came a bit loose and started a slow leak over the vid card. The vid card ended up acting wierd then stopped working, so I took it out and saw a nice blue puddle on it. I cleaned it off with some Isopropyl Alcohol and it was good as new! So really, if you use distilled water you don't have that much to worry about, though the Pentosin I was using as an additive formed a crust on top of the card that I had to clean off.

After that I was paranoid for a few days, but now I don't worry about it at all.

Same here, only tubing leaks I've had were during leak testing and were caused by metal worm gear clamps pinching the tubing and causing a pucker under the worm gear housing. I won't use them now and point my friends away from them too. Choose the ratchet clamps with care, there are a few that are worthless but the ones from Danger Den and Swiftech are pretty damn good.
 
Yeah, the WC parts in that thermaltake are fairly low-end... You'd be better off with air.

The case it's self is pretty damn nice IMO.
 
Nope, I have been using compression fittings for awhile and never have been concerned about leaks.

I have used plug n cool fittings, compression, 3/8" barbs, 1/2" barbs over the years and never had a problem with the first two methods. The second two (barbs) leave something to be desired.
