Hey, I've just purchased an X1950XTX and was wondering if you all use the Catalyst A.I. feature in the drivers?

I know it's suppose to deal with optimizations and how textures get analyzed and all that, so do you use it?

If you click on this thread and you have an ATi card, PLEASE vote!

Yes, I use it. The default (standard) is fine. Off makes you lose quite a few optimizations and high didn't seem to do much for me.

I usually turn it off when my VC can handle the game. I hate seeing that line where the texture is rendered/blurred, when i game i want the full rendered texture in all its quality for the whole span, not just half, and half blurred out.

I use standard.. I lost FPS with it off or on adanced in FEAR.. which is what I was using to test my new CF setup at first... I should try it with some other games also now.. but standard seems to work fine for me.. I think putting it on advanced forces AFR mode with CF... otherwise it uses sissor mode mostly (ATi's Split Frame Rendering version)... not sure what happens with it off? maybe uses super tiling mode?? All I know it it didn't perform as well..

I was also wondering, can you see anything different with the A.I. on? Dillusion mentioned a line.

I just leave it at standard I honestly can't be bothered to mess with it, if it broke why fix it.

From what I understand advanced will force AFR and generally perform better. I was using advanced for a while, but had to move to standard due to issues with Company of Heroes. On advanced there was terrible texture flashing; set to standard it runs and looks great.

Please show us a screenshot with Cat AI on and off where you can see this.

If my machine can handle it I like to leave it off for as many games as possible. I love the ultra high quality... but there are plenty of times that I'll turn it on (even to advanced) just to see high fps and enlarge my e... go.

Up until now I've been using ATITool to OC my card, and I didn't install the CCC.

Now that I'm setting up a crossfire rig, I'll have to see.

It seemed to me that ATi was really good at optimizing. Can you really tell if it's on? or is just having it off a placebo effect of you thinking you're getting the ultimate quality?

When i had an X800XL i used Catalyst AI. It improved my frame-rates with no visual loss, at least i couldn't tell.
