Do any of you still like to play Unreal Tournament (1999)?

If so what mods & where?

Next to me I have a rig running Win98se specifically for playing older PC games.

When my friends come over do they ask to play HL2, Halo, or BF2 on my modern rig?
Sometimes. But usually it's games like Serious Sam, UT'99, or Q2 on the Win98 rig.
Which adds credence to the argument that gameplay is often more important than eye candy.

And poeple wonder why a lot of gamers still prefer 1.6 over source -.- Graphics don't make a game, we all know this. Gameply > Graphics, thats the standard and it should be followed a hell of a lot more by the industry.

Amen to that, brother!!

I still play Instagib CTF with the ZP mutator - still the best gamne i own and I have HL2, farcry, and BF2. For some reason the game just "fits" except for all the damn cheaters.

I played it a little bit when 2003 was the norm, but I've phased completely into 2004 now. It seems like it has what 2003 was lacking, IMO.

Post that on Steam forums and you'll get your head chopped off.

I played it for along time even past when UT2003 was released. However, when UT2004 came out I have never played it since.

I used to be really good at that game too.

Yep, seems like UT2k4 was just an update to 2k3 with "Haloesque" vehicles more than anything.

I play UT2k4 often. But still find myself going back to UT'99. There are so many
cool mods for that game.

After getting my new 6800 video card what do you think I was looking forward to playing?
HL2? ... BF2? ... Nope, was anxious to check out Halo with ALL the effects maxed out
because I have always loved the gameplay.
And I must say, it's almost like a whole new game compared to my feeble old card.

P. S. - 10 hungry voters now. Didn't realize there were so many silly people 'round these parts or I'd have left that one out. ;)

I'm hungry... to play UT:GOTY year again! :D I think I like UT2004 the best though, since the vehicles are a lot of fun!

Yes, I play Instagib CTF though, and well I'm in a clan so I play it regularly actually.

i would, if it worked in XP... i have a 2k box that would run it decently if it had a keyboard/mouse/monitor on it. as it is, i like dual monitors, so it folds instead.
i'm invincible!

It works in XP for me... Everyone who has a pen drive at school has it installed on there and we play it during class (especially when there are subsitutes) and the library. Good times

What kind of school are we talking about here. I can never see that happening in my school

UT rocks ass...UT2K4 rocks ass.....UT2K3 bah on it LOL!

i still play facing worlds
one of the best maps of all time
:D

Indeed it is. I've played alot of versions of it for UT2003 and UT2004. Theres some really good newer renditions of it. I love that map.

Faceing Worlds and thats one tower map....3 building you jump from...hehe thoes 2 are the best i think

Facing Worlds, Morpheus .... and dare I say Deck16.

I know it's been overdone but Deck is still a cool map. No wasted space & every weapon
is equally represented. Mappers spend massive amounts of time trying for that, often
without success.

Since we have so many UT fans together, it may be nice to list your favorite user made
UT maps and mods as well. :)

fap fap fap

Deck 16 is a great map. Facing worlds takes the cake though. So simple, yet so much fun.

I know myself rather being playing 1.5, but 1.6 is what we have to play. Steam isn't that bad anymore and other then Valve needing to fix the friends list. It's a ok in my book now.

UT will forever be the best game ever made . Its prefect in every way. The maps, the weapons the different game plays.

UT99 is STILL better than 99% of the "new" shit they fill store shelves with.

UT99 is still the most mod-friendly game ever written. THere are so many fun mods for that game that I love to play. My favorite is still all the "Giant" custom maps with low-grav, Bin-Slayer weapons, U4 stimpacks and full custom model, skin and voice support. Relics can be fun too, but I find myself spending too much time looking for the right relics instead of killing people.
The Star Wars maps were pretty sweet too.

Wouldnt it would be cool if Unreal 2007 was an exact copy of 99.

I would buy it for sure.

I had more fun with 99 then I had with both 2003 and 2004.

The Jailbreak mod was hella fun to. the only thing not good in UT99 is the netcode engine, but its still (obviously) very playable. If they took UT99 gameplay and combined it with UT04's netcode and anticheat protection I would never leave my PC. ;) :D

I'd still play it if I didn't lose it.

Been a long day at work, can't remember if I ate lunch when I went home.. still hungry regardless :D

being i am the resident unreal freak ( i have a unreal tattoo. come on. i need help! ) It goes like this

1. 99 The best evar... Nothing can compare.
2. 2004 Dam good. Very very very fast. But alot of fun. Takes the aspects of quake and throws them in with unreal.
3. 2003..... huh? Weapons felt weird. Hud looked dumb..... Maps where horrible... ..

I'm hopeig and praying they don't change too much in 2007.... but so far it looks pretty dam good.

Only game I play.

www.clanTDK.com

We are a sniper clan :), come play on our FragTime Server

Hall of Giants is just impressive, low-grav is the way to play, relics rule, and several of the custom weapon sets are great fun. :D
(Haven't played any other giant maps, though. Have to do something about that.)

The UT sniper rifle is my favorite sniper weapon, ever. Wildly overpowered, fantastically precise, pleasing sound and look. With a lot of concentration, it's possible to be quite lethal with it even in close combat. What's there not to love?
