Can all you people with non amd rigs vote please. NON amd only please, just doing a bit of research.
 
i jumped on the c2d e6600 early on... might update to a quad core down the road. Just depends on how long i stay satisfied with the e6600.
 
trying to work out how many people have intel quad cores (Q series) compared to amd phenom
 
A quad will do nothing for me. I'll be replacing my E6600 with an E8500 in January and OCing to 4.2Ghz+ on air and actually seeing real gains in FPS.
 
I voted yes, but I just traded my Q6600 for an X6800.......Going back to dual....The quads just not doing it for me.....
 
sorry i didnt meen it like that, i just meant people coming over here with nothing intel and voting.
 
I think he's assuming the motherboard was worth $60.00 or maybe he returned it to frys and got 60 bucks store credit like I did with my e4300 bundle...
 
got my quad when the price dropped this past summer. Had it cranked to at least 3.45 every since.
I'm sitting at a nice 3.6Ghz right now.

No, don't have a need for a quad right now.
Of course, I'm also the type that doesn't buy something I don't need just because it's on sale.
 
I got the Q6600 when I ordered my new desktop a couple of months ago. I still haven't tapped into any app that makes use of all 4 cores, but it's nice to know I've got the horsepower when I'll eventually need it.
 
its stupid really, when the apps make use of this the q6600 will be outdated like a a64 is now.
 
got my Q6700 from retail edge two weeks ago

still havent installed it on a board yet, patiently waiting for a "cheap" x38.....

I agree that Quad core is mostly useless for many regular tasks, but single applications are not the only uses for a Quad core system. I already get use out of mine, and people who bought one last year could also take advantage of it back then too.
 
even tho a single app cannot take advantage of it, multi core helps with running multiple apps as windows splits the load across the cores.
 
Nope, got my e6400 forever ago, and love it still. When quads are more mainstream i'll plan on getting one.
