If you have a 120Hz Lcd do you still need Vsync? And if you use Vsync on a 120Hz lcd does that cap the FPS at 120?

no difference beween crt/tft here

if you see tearing at 120hz always depends on your eyesight
i only see tearing up to 100hz

vsync on means fps are capped

A 120hz tft has slightly more tearing than a 120hz CRT. It's roughly the same as a CRT at 90-100hz. IMO this is due to the fact 120hz tfts are unable to consistently output 120fps, due to an average response time often exceeding 8.3ms. I game with vsync off and barely notice the tearing tho.

+1 I also thought 120Hz LCD corresponded to 100Hz on my CRT. I don't usually use vsync on the 120Hz LCD as it's barely noticable and I just don't like vsync at all and very rarely did use it on CRT either.
