Do you lube your mouse?

Best thing I've ever done...

Any mouse (Tested with Razer Viper Optical, Intelliexplorer 3.0, MX510) + Func 1030U Surface Mouse Pad + Teflon Strips from Fragware.net or something + A full overnight Pledge treatment sink.

Razer Boomslang 1000 + XTrac Zoom + teflon mouse feet plus a weekly cleaning with Orange cleaner spray... gets the gunk off...

Also have an old (but good) Intellimouse with teflon feet, on an XTrac Micro... That feels pretty nice as well...

I'm debating as to whether or not these pads are porous, so I've never put a pledge or oil type of substance on the pads...

Now I'm all wonderin if something like that would help... :p
 
Sorry for the old bumpage...but where do you guys suggest getting the teflon tape/feet? Can I just go to Home Depot and buy some Teflon tape? Is it actually sticky? I don't really want to order something like this online, since the shipping cost is probably more than the cost of the product.

to tell the truthe no. i mean you could try and see if home depot has any "teflon COATED tape" but i dont think they will
 
I use a fUnc1030 surface with my mx500 and have never needed any 3rd party crap for it to work well, just keep it clean like any mousing surface and you'll be fine, dont use pledge on the funcpad ;) use alcohol swabs to clean it and it stays perfect.

Just picked one of these up when my ratpadz died and I love it. So smooth, dual surfaces, and the cord clip ownz!
 
Wait, why can't you use pledge on a fUnc? It's fine by me.

I think you can get teflon from a *scientific-based* store. Teflon is really a chemistry term, so that's just a guess. Heh.

Apply strips of ELECTRICAL TAPE (The black kind) to your mouse feet. Next, rub a tiny amount of Vaseline into your hard mousepad surface. Be sure not to apply too much, a little makes a big diff! If things do not go well, simply clean your mousepad and remove the tape. Hope this method works...

Also, I have not tried teflon tape or anything like that, but after much reseraching, "Mouse Skatez" is basically 3M 5480 Skived Tape. The secret is out! However, I have no clue on where to purchase this tape.
 
Well, since razer's back in business, I picked up a razer viper. It's the best mouse I've ever owned. It's as good as the old boomslangs IMHO, and it doesn't have any moving parts. It's optical. And I use a razer ratpad with it. Works great, no lube.
 
Does the CSHYDE C4 mouse surface wear out? I'm also thinking about purchasing the Teflon Mouse tape, does that need frequent replacing for an average gamer?
 
I wear out tape in about a week, but this is really cheap, and you get an entire roll. I can't find a better deal on teflon tape. I dunno about the mousepad wearing out, though.
 
Heh, I ended up buying a MX510 to replace my MX700 at CPL. I felt so out of place with a wireless mouse in the BYOC. :eek: Anyways, I use Endust for Electronics on my fUnc and it always makes it nice and smooth. Mouse feet never really seemed needed to me. And why do people want their mice to go as fast as possible across a surface? Personnaly I like it to be smooth, but not very fast so that I don't go trying to aim at someone and end up spinning 180. :p
 
Heres what i JUST did:

Pledge'd my mousepad (3M Precise mousing surface)
Took a plastic sandwich baggy thing, and cut strips out of it about the length of my mouse feet.
Used double-sided tape to attach sandwich baggy strips to mouse feet.

Damn its so smooth now, and I'm using a ball mouse :D
 
oh and have you tried using stainless steel washers before? i got some today and i'm thinking about gluing those on to my mouse feet

Might they scratch your poor mousey pad?

Just a plain old fUnc and an mx510 is good enough, doesn't need any greasing up.

The Mouse Feet Replacements, It's kind of hard to see the sandwich baggy pieces, but they are there, look hard. (And that's my half-assed paintjob :))

The stuff I used to do this, didn't get the exacto knife in the picture though..

I havent tried the stainless steel washers, but yeah they might scratch your mousepad up...

i thought it would scratch the mousepad, but people say the washers don't

I use a couple drops of Wet Platinum. Rub it into my slightly worn Ratpad with a paper towel and its almost like new.
