Hello HARDFolders:

I Have a simple direct question:

Do you know of the existence of an official XFX GeForce 6600 Dual-DVI with Passive Cooling

The Cooler is in the likes of the one of a 5200 from MSI (is Black painted, a classical if you like), but it covers the memory too.
I have searched through Google using its part number (listed on the sticker on the back side of the card, behind the GPU) and it only takes me to ebay like sites, or the evil one itself. The part number is PV-T43P-UDH3. I found the PV-T43P-UD on XFX's site, that one is dual DVI but it has active cooling. This card IS NOT LISTED ON XFX's Site. I do not know if it is made for the South America Region only, might be. It looks suspicios though, all the parts are loose inside the box, the manual, the DVI-VGA adapter and the card itself, Inside an antistatic bag though.

Any help or guidance will be appreciated,
Thanks in Advance.

P.D. I found a picture on evil bay, I post both the ebay link and the image:

It is on new egg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150114
,but for the price given here ($280) I rather buy a 7600GT:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...05520548+1067920131&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=48
I intend to use it to render through TCP/IP using wireGL/a.k.a. Chrome. Now I have to find out what is best:
1: A cluster of 1,2 or top 3 Machines using cheapo 6600
2: A good single machine using a 7600GT.

Anyway is intended to run on linux with MESA/OpenGL (that's why NVIDIA) to perform on Visualization applications: ABAQUS CAE, OPENDX, PARAVIEW, ETC, and render them through ethernet to workstations using a browser.

For more info look at our folks at TACC: Thanks Greg

I have 2 6600gt 256mb ddr3 xfx and personally i would not advise a gamer to buy one. Go 7600 or 7900 :)

OK, I'll go series 7. What I do really need is not much Shadows/Effects Calculation Power(particles do count in my interest), but mostly is good polygon count and fast framebuffer transfers IN/OUT of the card. I DO NEED to STREAM whatever is on the framebuffer to the NIC Card.
Does the 550 Mhz on the 7600 compesate for the 128 bit (64 bit up/64 bit down)

Remember I do not want this for playin.

Anyway I know your advise is really good, since now, is three of us who agree ;), count TACC.

???? New egg is showing the price as $95 where do you see $280? Also it's missing a second dvi port.

I have the card you are looking for in my fileserver. I bought it quite some time ago from http://www.scan.co.uk but since it no longer is listed I guess it has been discontinued.
