I've got it running now and its trucking along @ about 77-78c sound about right or is she a little warm? and as for the C3D to be honest i really hadn't heard much about them but what I had heard about them was all good. So I wasn't really all that worried and if it comes down to having to put a new cooler on it the so be it, it would be a hell of a good time to learn being that i have never done it before.
The temps seems to be within the norm levels. Are you forcing it to run in 3d clocks, if so then that temps are good, elsewise if it's in 2d clocks, you might want to consider controlling the fan with ATiTools or something similiar.

I really dont know yet, The darn thing is running at 2D speeds and i havent checked on it lately.

2d speeds is only a 20% or so speed decrease, so it should still be blazing fast. I don't think u can make it run in 3D speeds since its not really a 3D application.

Well I tricked my AIW x1900 into gpu folding, just testing for now. Manualy selected "X1900 series" drivers instead of the "AIW x1900 Series" drivers. I only use the video capture/TV features when I'm home (work on the road 2-3wks at a time) So I can switch drivers when I'm home/away.

My only concern is that its crunching a 2730 project right now, and taking 43mins/frame. Could be the 256mb or the slow core/mem speeds. (Runing 585/477, not stock 500/477) Might prove to be the reason an AIW x1900 isnt yet supported, could be way less productive then other x1900's.

edit: gonna play with the aiw overclock, up to 610/525 now. If frames dont drasticaly change, i might just try another wu (if there are other gpu wu's being handed out)
edit2: new overclock still 32min/frame. Time to dump the work and core, hope for something different when it downloads.
edit3: I'm a tool, should have read the gpu faq more closely. I had both cores on my opteron at 100% so the gpu couldnt run at full tilt. 10min/frame now, all is good :)

I heard a rumor (my wife left her laptop on with an IM message displayed from my brother asking about the best video card to get me for Christmas) That I might be getting a 1950 for Christmas.

Nice. Sounds like your wife is on the ball.

For the rest of us, could someone come up with a screen saver that shows a nice new ATI card with the caption, "All I want for Christmas..."? ;)
