(Even though someone may do it soon with a Geforce 7800GTX)
Kevin Lowe said:No. What fundamentally new technology is it going to test?
64-bit CPUs? Not really video card-related.
SLI? Big deal, it's just the same stuff, only faster. A great technology, but doesn't need a new test.
SM3.0? It may be new to ATI, but Nvidia users have already got it. And no one's using it anyway.
There's just nothing new to really stress it, and score inflation doesn't strike me as a good reason to shell out for a new benchmark. (Anyone know whether it's the ads or the paid copies that make them their money?)
When unified shader architectures start showing up, then it's time for a new benchmark. Until then, 05 will do just fine.
Skrying said:SM3.0 does need to be used, the benchmark should be ahead of games. Also use of HDR, soft shadows and parallex mapping needs all to be used if its not already.
Also, a unified shader architecture does not actually mean new things. Just that the same pipeline does both vertex and pixel work.
