I'm looking into adding water cooling for oc'ing purposes on the new system i'm going to build. Do i need a huge psu to be safe with having enough power, like a 600 or 700 watt one?

nope

if the pump is run off the +12V you need to factor its draw in
(use the calculator in the How to Buy a PSU thread and select a field where you can add in a value manually under other device not listed, say a modem or PCI Card field)

Swiftech/DD:
MCP350 is rated at 0.69A on the 12V rail (8.3W)
MCP600 is rated at 0.75A on the 12V rail (9W)
MCP650 (Liang/DD D4) is rated for 2A on the 12V rail, but the reviews I have seen show that the pump draws less current than that (enough to function correctly on an 18W fanbus line)

C-Systems:
modthebox.com reviewed the CSP750 Mark1 and has a bunch of specs for the pump in the linked review. C-systems claimed 3-6W per pump.
The CSP750 Mark2 just came out, and is also claimed to use 3-6W per pump.

That's all I could think of at the moment. :)

now overcoming inertia (spinning up the mass of the pumps impeller from a dead stop) will incur the greatest draw, it will then likely drop to a quarter of that (not exactly sure but typical with most spinning devices) once spinning, so that draw depending on the pump can be a factor in the stability of the rail, if its substantially greater than what is listed above, for comparision a HDD or optical needs about 2A on the +12V rail to spin up

Personally Ive employed AC pumps, and used relays to turn them on, other have a second PSU specifically for accessories like fans, light, pumps and peltiers, synchd with a relay

With a relay
