ok right now im currently on
a [email protected]
2gb ddr400
6800gt.
abit is7

if i get a new system, as in amd64, new motherboard, but keep the same memory and vid card, would i get a BIG BOOST in gaming? or would it be the same fps wise?

Seeing as an AMD64 3000 is about the same as a P4 3.2, I would figure you'd get about 7fps more. I don't think it would be worth the cash outlay. Just google for 'AMD64 3000 review'.

Now if you're thinking of a AMD64 3500 with dual channel... but the boards are still iffy.

Yopu might as well google for 'AMD64 3500 review". Hopefully you'll see a comparison to a 3.0C.

I figure you're playing at 1024x768?

let's see, 2400/200=12. 2900/12=241.6 fsb. 241.6/200=1.208. PC3200x1.208=PC3865.8. What mem are you running PC3700 or PC4000?

5:4 @ 241.6=DDR386.56. Are you using DDR400 mem?

Is the 2 G (4)512MB DS or SS? Or are they (2)1G? SS or DS?

As it is, I doubt that you could use that selfsame memory in a new AMD64 mobo. Although that would probably be how I would choose a new mobo - I'd find out which ones could use that mem.

But I wouldn't bother. For another 7 - 10 fps I'd just throw in a stock 3.4C.

holy crap john. i dont understandhalf of what you said man. now i kinda feel dumb.

as in mem is ddr400 pc3200 ( have 2gb total, 1gb geil, other i got for free 1gb infinion).

that i dont understand what ss or ds is.

oh yea another thing, when i got the free gb of infinion mem i also got a p4 3.2.
i tried putting it my system (2gb ddr400 6800gt.abit is7, dvdrw, cdrw, 420 psu) but it wasnt stable, the fan (crappy xaser7) was loud as hell, and system would reboot.

what do u think the problem is? and would that 3.2 be ALOT better than a [email protected]?

thx
