My monitor is 1900x1080 but I play a couple games at a lower resolution. In WinXP I set it to "Do not scale" and lived with the black bars. In Win7 64-bit I set it to "do not scale" and when I click yes it just goes back to "Use my display's built in scaling". I'm using the 195,62 drivers, it also did this in the default win7 drivers. Can anyone tell me how to enable "Do not scale"? I also tried the other scaling options and it just resets back to "use my monitors built in scaling" every time.

It's a driver problem under Win7, you'll have to wait for them to fix it. Same thing happened with Vista's release and it took them months to fix it. :( You'd think that since W7 and Vista are similar under the hood this would have been fixed before launch but I guess not.

I have a similar problem. My htpc had a 4850 and I traded my cousin his 8600gt, so he could game. Problem is that the 4850 would work at 1776x1000 for my 1080p dlp

If you force the 8600 to that resolution... it will upscale 1776x1000 to 1920x1080 which has overscan. Then i have to set it to 1080p reduced mode which takes an inch off of the screen all the way around and generally sucks :(

I can confirm, that at at least on 190.62, the scaling works. The setting does revert back to "Use my display's built-in scaling" but it still scales to proper AR. On Vista, it simply didn't work, untill they fixed it. My panel has no scalar what so ever. I like to use the "Nvidia scaling with fixed AR" option, since it maximizes the screen real estate while maintaining AR.

The first old game that I've played after installing W7, is Kingpin which I bought from GOG. And to my surprise, it worked. Black bars on both sides of the screen. So I tried MW2 @1600x1200 rez, and it scales that correctly as well.

"Do not scale" works also, and with 16x12 you get a very small image at the center of the screen, with proper AR. "Use Nvidia scaling" produces maxed out and stretched image out of 4:3 AR rez.
