I purchased a samsung 490 tv from them over black friday. samsung was offering a promotion that included a blu ray 3d player, and 2 samsung 3d glasses with purchase of this tv. And i got it all for the price of $769.

My 3 day shipping arrived 2 1/2 weeks later, and then I noticed the tv was not even what I ordered. It was another samsung 50" plasma, but not 3d. and not with the 3d promo. I tried multiple times to contact the bastards at electronics expo. Funny how as soon as you ask to speak to a supervisor the call disconnects. Every call I made either rang continuously, was answered and then disconnected. Or lo and behold I actually got to talk to someone, they would transfer me to another number and it would start all over with the endless ringing, disconnections, or straight to voicemail. I finally filed an Amazon A-Z claim and after another week of waiting the best electronics-expo can do is make me arrange with a shipper to have the tv shipped back for a refund, they wont even ship me the TV I ordered. Which leads me to believe that they didn't have it in the first place and are just shipping the alternatives instead. Also, every email ive had with them since the A-Z claim the hint that if I drop the A-Z claim things will be a bit smoother. This is the worst company ever! almost a month into the ordeal and im not even back where I started. Beware of their direct site or amazon store.

Call your credit company and tell them to cancel the purchase. You should not be paying for the shipping back either.

I really need to start buying with credit cards. I dont think usbank will cover me on a debit card

At least you bought it through Amazon where they can help you. Personally I would refuse to pay a dime to ship that TV back to them. I would be telling them if they want it come get it. Also obviously I would get Amazon to reverse the charge. If they are going to be a pain in your ass then I would be an even bigger one in theirs. If they pulled that crap on me they would be begging to refund my money so I would leave them alone lol.

Although because of problems like that I rarely deal with anybody except Buy.com, Amazon(Direct), and Newegg. Amazon is usually my preferred seller though because nobody can beat their customer service and return policy.

Unordered Items

If you receive merchandise that you didn't order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift. According to the Federal Trade Commission, you don't have to pay for it. Federal laws prohibit mailing unordered merchandise to consumers and then demanding payment. You also have no legal obligation to notify the seller. But the FTC notes that it is a good idea to write the company and let it know you didn't order the item and that intend to exercise your right to keep it for free. This may discourage the seller from sending you bills, or it may help clear up an honest error. The FTC recommends you send your letter by certified mail, and keep the return receipt and a copy of the letter for your records.

If the unordered merchandise you received was the result of an honest shipping error, the FTC recommends you offer to return the merchandise, provided the seller pays for postage and handling. Give the seller a specific and reasonable amount of time (about 30 days) to pick up the merchandise or arrange to have it returned at no expense to you. Tell the seller that you reserve the right to keep the merchandise or dispose of it after the specified time has passed.

If you paid with a credit card, you could have done a chargeback and kept the TV they sent you since you did not order it.

I know im so pissed at myself. Its gonna be nothing but credit from now on. they are paying the return shipping. I just have to drop it off at some special shipper, apparently anything normal like ups or fedex is a little too blase for these guys. I guess I could keep it if I want. but the only reason I picked up a plasma was for the 3d price. I would have much preferred a refund and the tv though.

Everyone does this for large items.

It probably came thru them to you and I'll bet there was a scheduling screw-up when they tried to contact you for the TV delivery?

It is pretty shady...how 'bout a link to the TV you purchased.

Yep, had similar customer service issues with them. But eventually got it all resolved in 3 and a half months.

I have been looking to buy a TV for the past 2 months and all the best prices seem to be online. I guess now I should wait even longer until I get a real credit card, instead of this secured credit card with a 500$ limit.

Just buy only from Amazon directly and you should be fine.

uhhh, no. That would still be theft.

What you quoted, has to do with a company sending you merchandise without ordering anything from them.

for example, a company sends you a dvd as a "promotion" and tries to get you to enter some membership thing for a monthly fee. You can cancel or deny the membership, but keep the item.

ordering something and receiving the wrong item is completely different from what you quoted.

AFAIK those secured CCs have the same federal protections as any CC.

The problem with debit cards is that they don't have the same federal mandated protection as CCs but most banks will give you the same thing on debit cards....you just hafta read the fine print to find out.

Yep!

Its not very definitive. from what I can tell you are entitled to both the shipping mistakes and your actual order.
Good luck with that one.

They made a mistake.

yeah, Ive had shipping mistakes before and its never been a big deal. Ive always been inclined to ship the item back for the correct item. It has been the store's attitude and my experience since then that has prompted me to suck whatever I can out of this company
