Do new CPU architectures have bug fix revisions like software does?

Pardon my CPU ignorance.

Do new CPU architectures (version 1.0 in software-speak I suppose) have hardware bugs that get fixed in later revisions to the CPU hardware? I have the same question for new chipset architectures as well.

I know it's wise to not buy version 1.0 of software. Maybe new CPU architectures are immune to this types of bugs and it isn't a good analogy?

If new CPU/chipset revisions are most likely is to be expected then I will wait on my Intel Core computer purchase until the first revision, since I am in no rush to purchase.

This is from Intel

Errata are design defects or errors. Characterized errata may cause the desktop board
XXXXXXX’s behavior to deviate from published specifications. Hardware and software designed
to be used with any given Altered Assembly (AA) and BIOS revision level must assume that all
errata documented for that AA and BIOS revision level are present on all desktop boards.

Edit: There are also diffrent steppings of the chips (CPU or chipsets). You shoud inform yourself when you're going to buy.
