Hi guys I am new here and want to ask a question or two about oc.
first my spec:
Sempron 2500
2x512 ram Apacer in dual
X1600pro 512mb
mb gigabyte rz-7 (the cheap one)
350PSU codegen(also the cheap one :))

About month ago I went to bios and after some carefull tries changed fsb from 166 to 186 and set as agressive which gave me from 1.75mhz to 1.95 mhz.
Also I changed ram to calculate by spd and timings to 7-3-3-2.0cl .
If I do 1 fsb more the comp freezes (temp is 56C) so I stayed witch that.
If I change ram to 6-3-3-2.0cl it still works but i am using 7 becouse carefull...

In Resoults i have 10 fps more in Doom3 ,Dungeon siege 2 etc...The pc works good and not freeze ...

but I am not sure enough .Did oc'ed it good What more can I oc(without$).Graphics card etc. How you (specialists) would do oc with my pc ...Advise please .Thanks.
Ps.And sorry for my poor english.

Try loosening your ram timings to something like 8-3-3-3cl. Raise your FSB a little more and see if that helps... if it crashes, add a little more voltage to your processor. What are your current CPU temperatures and voltage?

Let us know your results, and Good Luck!

My temp is 56-60C.Voltage ? don't known ,even don't touched it (i am to scared) :D
if I raise fsb by 4 (186-190) it freezes sometime...
Why should i Lower ram timings ? I need more explain ,becouse I am a bit new to oc.thx

With your temps, I wouldn't add more voltage.

You need to loosen the timings on your ram because that could be causing your crashes. Typically I try to do 1 of 2 things...

1.) Run tight ram timings at slower speeds
2.) Run looser ram timings at higher speeds

Also, if you want to be serious about overclocking you should really consider buying a high quality heatsink & fan. Especially if you are using the heatsink that came with your CPU. Heat will cause crashes and instability as well.

I would recommend a Thermalright SLK-900... the only problem is finding one. Also, this particular heatsink does not include a fan, so I would also recommend a Vantec Tornado (92mm) with a fan controller. (Since it is so damn loud, but pushes a huge amount of air!)

Good luck!

Yep, the brute force method :). I used the same setup on my old S462 system.. Down to 7v for (somewhat) quietness, pump it all the way up for the max overclocking sessions (or if your hairdryer dies on you...) But being that now my fan controller is in use in my main box (controlling my rad fans), I did the old 7v molex mod on it. Only drawback to that method is no adjustability, short of rewiring the molex pins again.
