Do I need to run driver cleaner for changing Nvidia drivers?

Quick question guys, whats your take on running driver cleaners when your just replacing the same company drivers? I wanna ditch the 66.77's and try the 66.93's from Nvidia to see if it fixes my EQ2 glitches. According to them, booting to safe mode, uninstalling the drivers, reboot and then install the new drivers is all you need to do.

What have you guys found as im sure alot of you switch your drivers left and right all the time.

Not properly uninstalling drivers is what's leading to the 2d artifiacting/simulated card death problem a few of us are having with out GTs. I never put much stock in drivercleaner, but after watching my GT post complete garbage, I'll never go without it again.
