first of all.. no-one ever "needs" to overclock. If you need to overclock, you need to upgrade.

overclocking might get you a few extra frames per second in a game etc. but can cause some heat/instability issues. I've never overclocked so I could do something that i couldn't do at stock speeds. so... in a nut shell... you don't need to overclock.

IMO... you should be just fine... You sertainly can if you want to.
just do it in small increments and check for stability, and overheating...

Of course you need to overclock! What's the fun in running ANYTHING stock!? :D

yes you do, if you need to ask then your apparently new to OC

it gives you a chance to gain more performance and bang outta your buck
and ofcourse the best advantage of OCing is LEARNING more and getting to know your particular setup well

Awwww man!!! only 4 of my 6 are......but those are my gaming, wifes, kids and AutoCAD rigs ;) Other 2 are mainstream laptops that I cant touch GRRRRRR

I want all of mine overclocked, but my sister won't let me touch hers ^.^

Anyways, what everyone said. No one needs to overclock, but the way I see it, it's like buying a new Mustang (or Ferari if that's your thing), tuning the engine to get a couple more horsepower out of it, then taking it to the track. It doesn't make your daily commute any different, but it's more for the thrill of the chase and the fun in doing it that makes it worthwhile.

I'm good at analogies ^.^

thanks all for your reply
it's look like OC is more fun than i think and i like to try new things :)
i will start to read about OC now

Every computer in my house is overclocked.
and main will be the first one :)

I've even solder-overclocked an older Powerbook G3 to 400mhz :O (a full 44mhz over stock lol).

that is lie and you know it!!!!!! i can quit any time i want.

it is like people who like to tinker with their car it is a long process they never leave it alone and they love doing it.

start by kicking up the FSB, if temps get high get a nice after market cooler, scythe ninja w/fan can be had for under 40$ shipped, solid cooler for a case your size, read the intel form, get pointers and post your scores in the database. i would get pretty confident before you start raising core voltage though.

good luck and have fun. i know it can be a little scary at first but you wont look back.

Some good guides in the stickies here, and in memory forum. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.......
