Well I am trying to keep my new system as clean as possible so I don't want to install any software that I don't need. Could I use a prinrter without any of the software included? How do I go aobut doing that?

If its XP that ur on theres a good chance u wont need the drivers, but if not, then u gotta do it the ol fashioned way and suck it up

Well you will need drivers no matter what you do. Sometimes they will be included with windows but sometimes you will need drivers from the manufacturer. Either way you will need a driver. Now the other miscellaneous software you more than likely don't need.

Alright...I will try to get drivers only and not the software...What about if I was on the network...Would all the computers on the network that want to use that printer need drivers?

Just try plugging your printer in and if windows installs it automatically and it works fine, you should be good enough without installing anything else.

As far as your network, when you share the printer on the computer its connected to it should provide the drivers to the other computers that want to print when you install the network printer in windows on the remote computers. So, you wouldnt have to install the drivers manually on every computer you have.

Most printers do not require the software included with them. Even if windows doesn't auto detect and install your printer you can always just install the printer driver files and it should work fine
