Do I need cooling for this setup

I have a dell pc that i'm turning into a htpc, here are the specs:
1GHZ P3 256k cache slot not socket
512 rdram 800 ECC
200gb seagate
dvd drive
raedon 9000
sb live
ethernet

right now there is a 120mm fan in the front and 2 60mm in the back by the processor, but the heatsink on the processor (aluminum) is facing the front of the case, not the back and has no fan on it since dell put a duct on there and used the rear fan to cool it

my question is should i buy another fan or heatsink fan combo for the processor or should i be fine in terms of heat. also note that the current fans in there are slow speeds that came with my silverstone case.

are you OCing it? are you stable in your current config?

if you are not OCing, and it is prime95 stable overnight or more, then it should be fine.
 
I've got an old AMD slot-A K7.

It wouldn't hurt to superglue a small fan over the CPU heat sink. I did.
I know my 750 gets pretty hot. A little bit of airflow will go a long way. :)

yup...it shouldnt take much...sounds like your case is already well ventilated...so a bit of airflow with a small fan at a low rpm should alleviate any worries...i'm running a p3 700 as a htpc right now, and all it has is a 80mm intake that blows over the cpu and memory and the psu exhaust fan...and its perfectly stable...haventhad it crash yet, in about 6 months or so of daily usage...and its usually playing music when its not doing video, so its always doing something

as long as you're not overclocking i would just stick a small fan on the cpu hs and call it good
 
Yea I would go with a small 80 MM fan. If you will OC, put one fan on the heatsink and one fan ventilating air out, or jsut pop in a tonrado or a panaflo and you're set. Just prepare for the noise level. My old PCs didnt have any fans. a 850 GHz P3.
