I built my rig just for hellgate london, and boy am i frustrated that i get crashes and very choppy gameplay when i set anything on highest settings. game runs fine otherwise. Im running at my montiors native res 1900x1200, the weirdest part is that ive heard from others with less powered video cards that the run just fine with everything maxed out, only thing is that they are XP insted of vista 64 that i am using. i know vista is a mem hog so im wondering if the crappy performance is because i dont have enuff ram. I just dont wanna buy more ram for no reason , i thought 2 gigs was enough, and i run bioshock maxed out very smoothly. here are the specs

2 gigs 1066 ram
6850 dual core
gigabite mobo
640mb 8800 gts

thanks in advance

ARGH!! vista is not a memory HOG, it just uses ram when nothing else is!!!

could be a 64bit glitch, since it is a new game

Maybe you could buy a copy of XP or install a copy you have laying around on a different partition?

you are probably running hellgate london in dx10 mode. If you run it in dx9 mode it'll be much smoother. Also since it's the beta version the dx10 drivers might not be completely finalized... I know there are still a ton of bugs still in the game...

vista = no memory hog, i get more performance in vista than i did in MCE05.

back on subject:

maybe some glitch, i know teh demo runs fine for me at 1280x1024 all maxed, i cant take it up to 1900x1200, who knows.

Last benchmarks I saw, showed Vista with better gaming performance than XP.

Hellgate ran great on my system, very similar to yours at 1920x1200. I think I tweaked shadow down to medium or something though, had some mouse lag.

2 of my 4gig RAM is out for RMA still =(

Ok, but from what i've heard from others with my card they can max out the game no problem in dx 9 which im running as well. So once the real game comes out, if im having the same issues how can i tell if i really dont have enough ram? im sorry to overkill this but i soley built my rig for this game.. I've been waiting for 5 years! i need to play it on full specs!

With 2 Gigs in vista with everything running, i.e. sidebar, areo, nod 32, dreamscene, et cetera. I'm using about 37% memory.

2 Gigs is fine for vista for general applications and probably a game of wow running simultaneously. I think for 32-bit vista that 3 gigs is optimal for most current applications and games.

Using task manager to check memory in vista is a bit confusing, a better way to check would be to hop on the reliability monitor and see what your free memory is.

are you running into any snags with other games? if so may be a driver issue on the machine maybe update chipset drivers intel.com or motherboard bios from gigabyte
