Hey guys, before I get rid of this CPU for the Q6600, I was wondering if my CPU is the worst overclocking Core 2 Duo E6400 around. Yes its terrible.
At 2.8ghz I need 1.45v in the bios or it won't pass Orthos for more than a few monutes. At 3ghz 1.52v, and at 3.2ghz I need 1.575v. The machine won't post at any speed above 3.2ghz, and the heat at that speed gets into the low 70's.
I believe the IHS is slightly warped due to the thermal paste distribution when I take off the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7. For comparison's sake, before I RMA'ed my first E6400, I was getting 3.2ghz at 1.35v and the temps were maxing out at 47*C after 8 hours of orthos. This CPU has been a nightmare running hot as hell and really shoddy overclocking. I have tried every method of applying the AS5 and reseated the thing about a dozen times.
My CPU Sucks (relative to most of the E6400s).
