Do I have another option?

I recently bought something on here. DC shows it was delivered last thursday, but I never got it. I was around all day and I didn't hear the postman. I remember reading in another thread that DC can sometimes just show as to when it was in the right zip code, not necessarily to the house or PO Box. I called the post office to see if it was there and the postman just didn't leave a note, but no box.

When I called and talked to the postmaster he asked if there was insurance on the box (seller says there wasn't). From my understanding, insurance only has bearing if the box was either lost by the PO (IE never delivered) or was damaged in shipment, so I don't see the relevance of it. If DC shows it was delivered is that just the end of the story or would there be something I can recover from the post office?

I don't think you have much to go on, if there's no insurance you become a part of a statistic of lost mail.

If i was the seller in that situation, i would give you a partial refund, but thats just me..

Talk directly to the person that delivers your mail, sometimes they will remember the package and can help. Sometimes DC will say arrival at unit before delivery but normally it will be delivered the next day not three to four days later. There is also a chance that the DC is not accurate. How did the person ship and when did he ship ? Priority will arrive in around 3 days almost 100% of the time but parcel post can take up to two weeks. I live in AZ but I had a package show as delivered in Chicago before it showed up at my door.

I think part of what frustrates me about the situation is that I don't have really anything to go on. I have no way of proving I didn't get the box. Short of using "signature required" there doesn't seem to be too much to protect the recipient in a case like this. The post master is supposed to be talking to the delivery person. It kind of sucks because it was awhile ago though (thursday), because of the weekend. He shipped it out Feb 24 (at least that is when the package was recieved into the USPS system). I don't know exactly how it was shipped. It did say arrival at unit and then delivered. Part of the reason I waited until Saturday to call the PO was to wait till friday in case it reached the PO after they had already gone out for delivery and so it was delivered Friday. The person I talked to Saturday was just an onsite supervisor, he said I'd need to talk to the PM. So I called back yesterday (monday) to talk to the PM and he checked the office (again) no package there and said he'd get back to me by tuesday afternoon at the latest, after talking to the delivery person.

I know this is obvious, but have you checked with your neighbors? Has worked for me a couple times.

Also I would double check with the seller to confirm he correctly addressed the package.

I suggest this. My neighbors are usually nice enough to come knock on our door and hand off the package the few times this has happened.

Just DC sux. About once a month it seems my ditwad postwoman puts stuff for me in someone else's box. I have been pretty lucky and have got everything except a hard drive once about a year ago. I learned real fast if I expect something on a certain day and do not get it I check the tracking number and if it says delivered I drive right to the post office and bitch. They call the postwoman's cell and she drives over and checks the boxes. Sure as hell my package is in someone else's box. For what they (I mean WE) pay these clowns it makes me puke. I always drive back to the PO then and bitch to the manager. Does not do any good but it makes me feel better.

Maybe UPS ain't so bad after all.

Vent over
