Do I have a bad 6950?

Just bought a new 6950, get home load the 10.12. The card is seen as a standard vga adapter and will not load the Cat control center. Ran driver sweeper, reseated the card...nothing. No widescreen res either. Do I need to take the card back?
 
Definitely sounds like user error. Make sure you get the 10.12a hotfix as Lorien described. Do a full uninstall, reboot, install 10.12a, reboot and go from there.

XP drivers must, I installed a 6950 onto XP 32-bit a few days ago and used stock 10.12 preview drivers.
Notice the 10.12a only say Vista/7.
 
I feel like a complete idiot tbh. Lorien you are exactly right. I went to the ATi site and chose my card and thought I had the right driver. The site does allow you to d/l a driver for the 69xx series card but it is the wrong driver and will not install!! Thanks a million guys...off to bench this card and play some games!!
 
I saw that over the weekend...any risk by doing this other than voiding the warranty?
 
If it's not stable you can revert back using the dual BIOS but if you have any sort of second thoughts I wouldn't do it. You have a fully functioning product, no sense in risking it.
 
Played Cod BO for about an hour with no trouble. Loaded Metro 2033 crashed three times. Restarted and got a hard freeze just listening to music. Uninstalled the driver and reinstalled. Everything seems okay now.
