I just installed a IC7-Max3 and one of the options is the SATA Raid program and I dont even know what it does or what it is doing. My hard drive is a regular IDE hard drive with the wide flat cable going to the mother board. Is SATA different? I noticed the cables for hooking up a serial drive, looks like I could hook up 6 of them if I wanted. I'm a newbie when it comes to hard drives :D

SATA is just a different interface for drives. So the software for SATA drives, moreover RAIDs, isn't useful for your normal ATA drive.

That's what I figured. Problem is if I disable it in bios, the computer wont boot to windows. It freezes right before that dos looking screen where it's about to say "Verifying DMA pool...." it never gets there, just leaves a blinking cursor below my list of resources and IRQ reservations. So if I dont have SATA drives why can't I disable it, and why is the computer flipping out if i do... :(
