Do heatpipes work on their side?

Yeah, I mean, most configurations would have the heatsink "on its side" since you mount it perpendicularly to the board and the tower stands on its feet.
 
it would work fine, but with maybe a 0.5C diffrence over the tower on a desk type thing, in otherwords, nothing to worry about
