Do all SSD's screech?

Thanks. Hmm. Is most 25nm flash 3.3V or 1.8? If it is 3.3V are they not using the 3.3V SATA power?

The problem is that 3.3V power is rarely if ever used for drives due to the regular use of peripheral Molex to SATA power adapters which lacked the 3.3V rail. This has resulted in virtually every HDD and SSD out there down-regulating 5V. 5VDC hasn't been used in controllers and such after TTL level signaling fell out of fashion.

Hi!

I also experience high pitched noises from the area around my ssd.
Samsung model.
Does this sound the same as what you have experienced and would it imply any increased risk of disk-failure?

Wow, its been almost two and a half years since I posted this! By this point all of my laptops and desktops all have SSD's. I've build and upgraded a dozen or two pc's and laptops with SSD's for friends and family as well. To this day I'd say only a small percentage of them ever made that noise. But better yet, I've yet to experience a single SSD go bad. I've never had to replace a single one of them! I still can't say what causes the noise but I've learned to not worry about it...

But to answer your question, yes that is definitely the noise I heard as well.
