Do 45nm's have a concave IHS like C2D does?

I'm mainly concerned since the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme is designed with a convex base to compensate for the fact that C2Ds are slightly concave.

No, it isn't designed like that. It is a manufacturing DEFECT. I know, I bought one and had to lap the heck out of it. I've also owned 2 regular Ultra 120's. I can see exactly why during the manu process the copper plate gets bent too. It wouldn't be "convex" the whole length of the base if they designed it that way. You've been listening to too much TR marketing. And not all Intel IHS's are convex either. I've owned probably 8 C2Ds at various times and they've each been different-some concave and some convex. Thisis a big bunch of BS to help save what could have been a disaster for TR. I love my TRUE, but it took a lot of work to make it "right."

it would never work like that because the C2D/Q concavity is not always the same, and it is not really concave, there is a sort of raised bit in the middle.

kind of like that. and its not always the same, so you couldn't manufacture "to" it.
a salesman could easily say so though.
