Has anyone tried this card yet? I'm really interested in getting a good sound card in the $100-150 range. It's either this or the M-Audio Rev. 7.1. I'm leaning towards the 6fire LT a bit more because there's a tiny bit less of a CPU hit when playing games. Don't really care about the multiple speakers because I'm just stereo for now. Hooking them up to an old pair of studio 20's so I'd like something a bit better then my ac'97 onboard sound i have right now... :)
 
Stereo speakers you say? If that's the case, you can do better than both of those. It's time to look into the E-Mu 0404, or if you can afford it, the 1212M. The 1212M has arguably the best analog output of any card under $500.
 
Do those cards work well in a dual system? I've used the audigy and I'll never go back after having that thing hose my system a few times. I'll look into those cards, thanks for recommendation.
 
My 1212M is running great in my current system, a two-processor Xeon system with a ServerWorks Grand Champion LE chipset. As for other systems, you might want to inquire with E-Mu. Otherwise, the card is popular at the Head-Fi forums, you could ask there.
 
Went to my local Guitar Center and grabbed the 1212m to try out. It's sooo much better then onboard sound. Can't compare it to other cards but so far I'm happy with it hooked up to my integrated.

At $165 it was a bit more then I wanted to spend. But hopefully this card will last me a looooong time... I mean, I stick with onboard audio for years.... :-P
 
The 1212M is a great card, I really noticed the difference over my GTXP. 165$ is not a bad price at all, MSRP is 200, and street price doesn't deviate too far from that.
