DMA? Let BIOS select transfer mode?

Under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in device manager, my 2 hard drives and my dvd and cd re writer all say Ultra DMA Mode 2 or 5, but this is greyed out because the box "let BIOS select transfer mode" is ticked.

According to a log Nero Vision Express 3 made, DMA is turned off on both hard drives and both cd and dvd drives

Is my system using DMA on these drives?

Can you run HDTach on your hard drive?

Nero may be wrong, and the easiest way to find out is to see if your hard drive is performing to UATA spec. If Nero is wrong about the hard drives, it may be wrong about the CD drives too. I trust the hardware manager more then Nero. Alternatively, you could try running SiSoft Sandra to find out.

Also, run Nero's drive benchmark program to see if speeds are fine. If there's no problem there, then don't worry.
