I was thinking about buying a Blu-Ray player with DLNA support just for the DLNA alone. I wouldn't use the actual player or its other features at all, so that seems like kind of a waste.
So my question is, is there a stand alone DLNA device out there that I can hook up to an HDTV? If such a thing exists the device itself also needs to have wireless internet. And be cheaper than a bluray player.
 
I just use my PS3 but if you don't have that or 360 I guess it doesn't help much.
 
One thing I would be worried about with stand alone DLNA players is the processing power. For example, some Blu-Ray players have pretty sluggish performance in the menus, I can only imagine how sluggish it would be streaming HD movies. I use my PS3 for DLNA and Blu-Ray, and the performance is great. Of course it cost more though.
 
The WD TV devices or even Popcorn Hour are pretty quick. Not sluggish at all. And they play almost every format you can throw at them without any transcoding needed.

All the files in my library are ts, mp4, avi, and mkv. The ts files are all 1080p and are around 4-5gb per file if that matters. I was looking at the reviews on the players listed in this thread,
and it had people claiming it streams 1080p perfectly fine, and yet other people saying they can't play 1080p without lag. Damn mixed reviews keep throwing me off.

The PBO Alpine seemed pretty interesting, and it said was going to even cheaper than the WDTV. Is there an actual release date for it though? All I could find was "March", but we're already over halfway through March.
