Does anyone know how to create a real-time streaming system using VLC and a Hauppauge capture box to stream HD video (720/1080p) over the internet using HEVC / H.265?

Not using h.265, the encoders for that are slow and need a TON of horsepower to even run at ~10fps. For example, i5-3750k at 4Ghz, runs ~6-8fps on the medium preset and like 1-2 on very slow.

You've got to be more specific than "streaming system". What do you want to stream? Recorded content? Live TV? Where does this content come from? CableCARD? Over the air?

Stream live TV captured by a Hauppauge capture box from a Comcast or DirecTV tuner. Doesn't Skylake have built-in hardware H.265 encoding now?

I use Plex + a HDHomerun OTA 2 tuner box. Someone wrote a free plugin. Works just like any other plex content. Be warned you decent processing power. I use a 4gen Dual Core Celeron(aka pentium Core) as my plex. I can squeeze maybe 2 streams of live TV, but its pushing it. Let me know if you want links.

You use this over the internet? I've used the HDRfling for local, but that's it. What are you using?
