DIY Picture Frame?

Anyone built one of these that runs without being hooked up to a "computer". I was wanting something around the 17" or larger size and havent seen much available and the ones I have seen I imagine I could build much cheaper.

Anyone have links or built one?
 
If you have a crappy laptop lying around, those work real well for this. If you're willing to make your own housing, you can fuse the laptop and LCD screen (a la iMac) and just run some picture slideshow program (aka, a screensaver).
