DIY Modulation Kit for PSU, ease of use?

1. How easy is it to use these things?

2. Is it recommended to do, or can it effect the PSU negatively?

3. The PSU I'm thinking of using it on is the 500W Blue Storm. Does anyone have any suggestions for that?

I don't think modulation and modulated mean what they think they mean. ;) Anyway, it shouldn't be too difficult. Have you read through the installation instructions on the site? If you know how to use wire cutters then you should be okay. It done properly it shouldn't affect your power supply. If done improperly then it probably just won't work. There's always the possibility of destroying your power supply, though. Also, don't crosspost; just post your question in the most appropriate forum.
 
lol. It does say "Modulation" in the kit. I also posted in the modding forums just 'cause it equally falls there, too (a far as I know). ;)

I did read the pdf, but it's not too specific.

Depends on your skill level. For me it would be really easy. It may be a good afternoon worth of work for a first time kind of deal.
 
if incorrectly done it can seriously impact the supply
you really should add a multimeter to your tool kit when undertaking a project like that to insure there hasnt been substantial resistance added from a bad connection

adding additional interfaces will add some resistance anyway but you need to keep it minimal

you can adjust the rails to overcome added resistance but in the case of the +5V & +12V rail that added resistance will only be in those strands youve modualrized not the very same rails that go to the mobo connector without the same added resistance,

the amounts of resistance if the connections are good will not be so much as to push the +5V or +12V out of spec, so your likely good, and you might even want slightly higher rails on the mobo if your overclocking, with a modular setup that power wouldnt be quite as high to say your HDDs which could be a good thing

the reason you see many overclockers adopt supplies that exceed spec for load regulation is so they can increase the voltage to the mpbp and yet not blow out the top end of the spec because the supply is regulating the rail to say 3% or 1% instead of 5%

the FSP Blue Storm however is just of basic spec compliance (5%) for load regulation
