Here is a very handy visual guide to replacing a broken LCD in your laptop. The instructions are so easy, pretty much anyone should be able to do it

Replacing a broken laptop screen is more often than not, a very easy project. If you have a broken screen, don't jump on ebay and sell it for considerably less than it's worth. Instead, go to ebay and try to find the replacement LCD, the entire cover for your computer, or even better, your computer with a blown motherboard but intact screen.

It's one of the easiest things to do, and yet I see so many people just ditching their laptops due to a dead inverter, screen, or backlight.
 
I used to replace dead LCDs all the time...
IBM used to even have a link on their website where you could by replacement panels/inverters online...

I think the hardest part of it is finding all the tiny screws and tabs that hold the laptop together.
 
We do this at work all the time. Good post. Although .... it would be nice to say "Buy a new laptop" .... and then keep the consumer's laptop and fix it with a few bucks and some petty labor.
