anyone know of any how to's that are very simple? got a new computer for the wife and put an XFX 8800GS in it. for her needs, it more than fits the bill at a very reasonable price.

HOWEVER i've been reading that the damn thing doesnt have any speed control for the fan...so i was thinking of wiring up a pot to do the job before i spend $40 on an aftermarket cooler. anyone know of any good detailed instructions? my electronics skill goes to measuring voltage/resistance, soldering and not much more than that. more of a mechanical person:p

thanks!

Hey, you should be able just to put a 10KΩ pot in series with either lead going to the fan and you'll be golden.
Just make sure that its rated to handle the current that your fan will be sucking though it. It might get a little warm, because that's what it's doing with the extra energy it's not delivering to the fan.

Luck,
