I came across a very interesting article in eweek:

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1624902,00.asp

I work in IT for a small business managing about 20 desktop machines. Our current machines are ancient compared to todays standards raning from PII 233mhz to PIII 700mhz with at most 256 ram. Money is always an issue. Buy dells is one thing. But when you think about it, think of how much you could save by making your own DIY system. Performace wise, i think we would could build better systems for the price of a regular dell desktop.

What do you all think about implementing DIY in the workplace?

Well, I think it all depends. Some business don't really need to make their own. Other business like the warranty's that come with Dell. However as a personal preference, I would ALWAYS make my own PC's for my company, I would never buy from another business.
